John Deere 2038R: Mower Deck and Loader Made Simple
2:43

Switching between mowing and loader work can boost productivity for any property owner. Tractor ownership should be straightforward and enjoyable, with clear solutions that deliver value. The John Deere 2038R makes the process incredibly easy, ensuring every job gets done efficiently.

Follow along as Brian with Koenig Equipment demonstrates how to disconnect the mower deck and loader and then reverse the process.

The AutoConnect Mower Deck

Looking for smooth removal and installation of the AutoConnect mower deck? First, release the gauge wheels and drop the deck to the ground using the cut-height dial. Move the dial to zero, and you’re set. Safety comes first—pull out the safety clip, rotate the latch arms, and the deck releases on both sides. Switch to four-wheel drive and back over the mower deck; a distinct “click” confirms the drive shaft is disconnected. With the deck out, it’s a great time to clean off grass, lubricate spindles, and check gearbox oil.

Putting the deck back on? Simply lower the carrier to line up the drive shaft with the gearbox, listen for the latch, and raise the deck. Reinstall your clips, set the gauge wheels for the ideal cut height, and confirm everything is secure. Remember: gauge wheels are meant for support, not cutting—let the tractor do the work.

The 220R Loader

The 220R loader is equally easy to remove when you need nimble mowing or lighter machine weight. Start the tractor and lower the boom until the front rises slightly, releasing pressure from the latches. Pop both latches, place the tractor in neutral, and raise the lever to let the park stand drop. Relieve hydraulic line pressure using the loader joystick, then disconnect the color-coded hydraulic lines and cap them for protection—each step designed for efficiency and peace of mind.

Reinstalling the loader is just as seamless—reverse the steps, and you’re ready for heavy lifting. Color-coded hydraulics take the guesswork out of reattachment, and self-parking technology gets you back up and running fast.

Every detail is designed for durability, safety, and ease-of-use. At Koenig Equipment, we help tractor owners spend less time on setup and more time working smarter, not harder.
