If you are looking for the newest John Deere combine, it is the Model Year 2025 S7 Series. The lineup has four models, each running a JD14 or JD9 engine, with three levels of automation and a redesigned cab. Below is a plain look at the three changes that matter most in Indiana and Ohio fields, and an honest word on when the S7 is worth the move from your current combine and when it is not.

Advanced Automation Systems
The biggest change on the 2025 John Deere S7 Combine is how much of the setup and speed work the machine will handle for you. The S7 offers three automation packages: Select, Premium, and Ultimate. These packages include Ground Speed Automation, Harvest Settings Automation, and Predictive Ground Speed Automation.
Ground Speed Automation maintains a consistent feed rate by adjusting the combine's speed based on operator inputs and predefined limits. Harvest Settings Automation gets you into the field faster by automatically setting key parameters like concave clearance and rotor speed based on crop type and location. Predictive Ground Speed Automation uses satellite scans and on-the-go measurements to control the combine's speed ahead of changing conditions. Automation does not replace a good operator; what it does is hold settings steady through hour ten the same as hour one, which is where most of the lost grain and lost time comes from.

Powerful New Engines
The 2025 S7 Series includes four models, each equipped with either the JD14 13.6L engine or the JD9 9L engine. These engines produce higher power at lower RPMs, offering improved performance in tough conditions. The JD14 engine, in particular, provides increased torque and up to 10% fuel savings over previous models, and John Deere rates the S7 for up to 20% productivity gains while using less fuel.
The engines also carry advanced diagnostics, which help our technicians keep the combine running during the narrow harvest window when a day of downtime hurts most. Our service teams at stores across Indiana and Ohio support these machines in the field during harvest.

Enhanced Operator Comfort
A comfortable operator is a more productive operator, and the 2025 S7 Combine features a redesigned operator's station built around that. The new cab offers more storage space, additional cupholders, and better heating for the operator's feet. The seat is more comfortable, and there is more glass for improved visibility.
The cab also includes the G5PLUS CommandCenter, an integrated StarFire 7500 receiver, a JDLink modem, and a new corner post display. These put the information an operator needs in front of them without pulling attention from the header. If you have run older cabs on 14-hour days, the difference is noticeable by the end of the first week.
Is the S7 the Right Move for Your Operation?
It is not the right move for everyone. If your current combine is well maintained, your acres are not growing, and you are not fighting throughput or operator fatigue, the automation alone may not justify a trade right now. Keep running it and put the money into harvest-season service instead. The S7 makes the most sense when you are covering more ground than your current machine comfortably handles, when you are leaning on less experienced operators, or when fuel and downtime are eating into the margin.
John Deere runs Early Order Programs on combines each year, and ordering early usually gets the best pricing and the build slot you want for harvest.
