Quick Fix for RTK Line Jumps: Starfire 6000 & 7000 Trick

Written by Koenig Equipment | Oct 11, 2024 11:30:03 AM

We're addressing an existing issue with RTK systems: line jumps. As your trusted partner in agricultural solutions, we're here to share a simple yet effective trick to minimize these occurrences.

Why Line Jumps Happen

Here's a straightforward method to help reduce line jumps on your StarFire 6000 and 7000 RTK systems:

  1. Access the StarFire menu on your display.
  2. Navigate to the RTK settings (look for the tripod icon).
  3. Hit the configure button.
  4. Change the network ID to 4020 (a fictitious number).
  5. Hit OK and exit the menu.

What This Does

By changing the network ID to a non-existent base station, you're forcing the GPS receiver to run off the full satellite signal and RTK extend. This simple adjustment can significantly reduce line jumps and improve your overall field accuracy.

Important Notes

  • This solution works for StarFire 6000 and 7000 receivers for up to two weeks.
  • For StarFire 3000 receivers, you'll need to change the operating mode to "off" to run SF1.
  • Once solar activity returns to normal, remember to switch your settings back.
  • Both RTK and non-RTK GPS systems are affected
  • RTK systems are experiencing the most noticeable impacts
  • The solution provided is specifically for RTK customers
  • Non-RTK GPS users may also experience issues, but unfortunately, there are limited solutions available at this time

We anticipate these issues to be most prevalent between October 10-12, 2024. While we can't completely eliminate the problem, we're committed to keeping you informed and providing solutions where possible.

For our non-RTK GPS customers, we want to assure you that we're monitoring the situation closely. While we don't have a specific fix for non-RTK systems, we recommend being extra vigilant during your operations and potentially adjusting your work schedules if possible during this period.

At Koenig Equipment, we're committed to providing you with practical solutions that keep your operations running smoothly. We understand that every farm is unique, and we're here to offer custom solutions for your specific needs.

Remember, while this trick has shown promising results in minimizing line jumps, it may not be a perfect solution for every situation.
